Kisses From Heaven
Lately, I have been so busy preparing for the California Bar Exam that I think being ‘stressed out about it’ is a severe understatement. My husband took over the management of the entire household to show his support while my friends sometimes send me messages to encourage me. Yesterday, my mum called me when she heard my sister tell her that I am so stressed out to the point that my skin is breaking out and that I was getting ill. She then went on and gave me a whole list of healthcare products and routine that I should take during this time. This is how parents show they care about the things that matter to you – they look after you in all the little ways and know just what you need.
In the grand scheme of things, the California Bar Exam seems so small but it has consumed my entire life. After my mum put down the phone, I thought, “I wonder if God, my Father in Heaven, supports me in the same way my mum does. Even though He has to take care of all the big things in the world and all the other people in the world, if this little exam matters so much to me, does it matter to Him? And if it does, how would I know”?

Today, I woke up with 5 hours of sleep and headed to class. To those who know me, they would know how hard it is for me to function on such little sleep. With 10 minutes to spare before the class, I rushed to get a take out breakfast. Everything was timed perfectly until I reached for my wallet to pay the cashier. To my dismay, I left my wallet at home!
This increased my stress point to level 10 because not only will I go hungry for the next 4 hours, I would have to relate this embarrassing matter to the cashier. I finally gave up and told her that I forgot my wallet. I expected the cashier to give me the dagger stare for wasting the chef’s and her time, since they had already made the breakfast burrito I had ordered. And I wasn’t even one of their regular customers.
I was expecting the worst, but surprisingly, she just gave me a huge smile and said, “It’s okay, just pay me back next time.”
I thanked her and asked for her name so that I could pay her back. The breakfast burrito never tasted so good.
When lunch came around, I still had no money but I really wanted a boba drink from my favorite place Ozero in downtown. I called them, and it turned out that my husband had just bought a few drinks there the other day – so in perfect timing we had a free drink I could redeem without having to buy anything. God provided for me yet again. When I arrived, I couldn’t find parking anywhere so I made a stop at the loading zone in front. To my surprise, the waitress went out of her way and delivered the free drink to my car (which they have never done for me before). These are what I call kisses from Heaven. To be so loved over and over again in one day in all the smallest things, from the places I never would have expected. Divine serendipity.
In the car, I was filled with the Holy Spirit and I realized that God had answered my question. He does care about my exam, and He cares about each of my small everyday needs like leaving my wallet at home, not having money to buy food, and even not being able to find a parking space, no matter if they are so small in the grand scheme of things. He loves me tenderly like my mum does, and shows me in the same way she does and more. After the revelation, I went on and had a great time just singing out loud and worshipping in my car. I made it back home happy and well fed without any money at all. The Word says in Matthew 6:25-34,
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Friends, I would like to share two seeds of thought today. First, God will reveal His love for you if you ask Him to and you will see His miracles even in your everyday lives. Second, a random act of kindness makes a difference to someone’s life! I pray for the cashier and the waitress ,that they will find favor and love wherever they go in Jesus’ name.
I heard a story about a man who was about to pay at a parking toll for the highway. It was then when heard God say, “Pay for the car behind you too.”
And so he did. Subsequently, the driver of the car behind him was pleasantly surprised at the random act of kindness so she paid for the car behind her. It was recorded that this act of paying forward went on for 6 hours straight and every car that passed by that toll that day gained hope and love because of one man’s obedience and his one act of random kindness.
My friend shared a great verse on our sister blog, WitnessHK which says,
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

I experienced random acts of kindness today and they made a difference in my life.Don’t forget to love on others because you could be the way God wants to show His love to someone in need today!
